The Story

RSI Perseus Overview

The RSI Perseus is a large patrol gunship manufactured by Roberts Space Industries. Originally built for the UPE Navy in the late 2520s, it was redesigned in 2950 into a civilian model with modern components and improved utility. Built for blockade operations and confrontations with sub-capital ships, the Perseus combines heavy turret firepower with a dedicated torpedo launch bay.

Heavy Firepower for Sub-Capital Targets

Nicknamed a “sub-cap slayer,” the Perseus delivers its primary damage through two manned turrets. Each turret mounts a pair of bespoke Size 8 ballistic cannons designed to punish larger targets during sustained engagements and high pressure standoffs.

Manned Turrets and Fighter Deterrence

Both manned turrets also include two Size 3 hardpoints to improve fighter deterrence and defensive coverage. This layered setup helps the Perseus keep smaller threats at bay while maintaining its main focus on sub-capital targets.

Remote Turrets and Point Defense Coverage

For anti-fighter support, the Perseus features two remote turrets, each equipped with dual Size 3 guns. One turret sits on top of the bridge and can be slaved to the pilot, while the other is located on the keel. Six point defense turrets positioned around the ship add additional protection against incoming ordnance.

Torpedo Bays and Sustained Strike Capability

The Perseus includes two internally accessible torpedo loading bays capable of storing up to forty Size 5 torpedoes. Ten are held in each auto-loading system, with an additional twenty missiles stored in adjacent racks. The bays can be reloaded directly from the cargo bay to extend total ordnance capacity. The pilot can launch torpedoes normally, while a forward operator console provides secondary control for coordinated strikes.

Cargo Bay Utility and Vehicle Support

The cargo bay serves as the hub for surface access, docking access, and cargo operations. It supports a flexible payload grid rated for up to 96 Standard Cargo Units and can carry vehicles such as the Ursa or MTC. When not in use for hauling, the bay can convert into a basketball half-court with illuminated court markings and an automatically deploying hoop.

Crew Quarters and Engineering Support

Designed for multi-crew operations, the Perseus comfortably houses up to six crew members and includes separate Captain’s Quarters. A military-style galley supports long deployments, while a full engineering bay enables onboard maintenance, repairs, and operational support.
