The Story

Drake Corsair Overview

The Drake Corsair is a multi-crew exploration ship built for crews who want versatility and serious punch on long-range runs. It trades heavier defenses for a focus on flexible utility and high forward firepower, wrapped in a distinctive frame with asymmetric convertible wings and a large cargo hold. Designed to support expeditions into distant and dangerous systems, the Corsair accommodates up to four crew in practical quarters and pairs its exploration role with a full complement of scanning suites and dual quantum fuel tanks for extended range.

Weaponry and Forward Firepower

For an exploration vessel, the Corsair brings an intimidating weapons package. It features six fixed guns, three turrets, and four missile racks, giving it the kind of firepower that can make even hardened pirates reconsider an easy target. The dorsal and lateral turrets can fully point forward, further amplifying frontal damage output and making the Corsair especially dangerous in head-on engagements.

On-Board Facilities and Exploration Systems

The Corsair supports multi-crew exploration with top-flight living space and a full suite of modern scanning systems. Comfortable, functional quarters keep the crew operational on longer deployments, while the scanning suites provide the tools needed to search, identify, and evaluate points of interest across remote regions of space.

Rear Ramp Cargo Bay and Vehicle Storage

A large rear ramp and expansive hold make the Corsair a practical platform for real-world expedition logistics. The cargo area is versatile enough to carry either a ground exploration vehicle or a valuable haul of cargo, supporting everything from scouting and survey work to opportunistic recovery and trade.

Additional Storage and Loadout Readiness

The Corsair is built to keep gear organized and accessible during extended missions. Its dedicated storage options support exploration, combat readiness, and equipment-heavy operations:

  • 4 drawer storage units, each with 1500K uSCU capacity

  • 1 gun rack that fits 6 regular guns and 6 small arms

  • 2 big gun racks that fit 1 Size 5 weapon each

  • 8 armor lockers
